As the Lead, Instructional Designer, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering impactful learning experiences across PLLI’s programs. You will design, develop, and manage curricula that integrate instructional best practices, multimedia tools, and digital platforms, ensuring engaging and effective learning for diverse audiences. The main purpose of this role is to create effective and engaging educational experiences that enhance learning outcomes through the systematic design, development, and delivery of instructional materials and activities.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities
On this Job, you will be required to:
- Lead the end-to-end design of curricula, instructional materials, and program structures across schools and initiatives.
- Translate learning outcomes into well-structured course outlines, lesson plans, and learner journeys.
- Administer and optimize the Learning Management System (LMS) for seamless course delivery and learner experience.
- Create and develop engaging instructional materials including workbooks, multimedia (video lessons, audio, etc.), case studies, and facilitator guides for traditional instructor-led courses, online programs, web-based learning aids or products, and other programs as needed..
- Develop materials and curate engaging learning content for in-person, hybrid, and online programs to create the best learning experience possible.
- Develop and collaborate with facilitators to produce on-demand courses on the LMS with assessment design, including quizzes, feedback tools, and evaluation mechanisms.
- Work with subject matter experts to identify the target audience’s training needs
- Use your experience in Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic (VAK) learning style, social and mobile learning, and curriculum design to build and improve e-learning, instructor-led, and blended approach learning intervention
- Integrate digital platforms, communication tools, and marketing approaches for learner engagement and retention.
- Devise modes of formative and summative assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of our courses
- Create realistic objectives for learning or performance for the training delegates and facilitators.
- Redesign courses for virtual training programmes that are engaging while still adhering to our value proposition to our clients.
- Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to delivery options for the course.
- Analyze courses to ensure they meet or exceed quality standards,
- Manage project timelines to meet course development schedules and launch timelines.
- Remain aware of all emerging instructional technologies and make recommendations about when to adopt certain systems to continue to offer the best learning experience possible
- Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, and virtual training.
- Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies, adult learning and instructional design.
Qualifications
You will need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a related field.
- 4–7 years’ proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or e-learning.
- Hands-on experience with administering and managing an LMS (Moodle, TalentLMS, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and related productivity tools.
- Strong knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy).
- Strong lesson and curriculum planning skills.
- Ability to design assessments, evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Good facilitation and presentation skills – online and in-person.
- Excellent written, verbal, and copywriting communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently on end-to-end instructional design process tasks
- Experience in project management, with demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Experience with additional eLearning authoring tools or platforms is an added advantage.

Experience with some of the following is highly desirable:
- WordPress Web Development – managing websites, plugins, and user experience
- LMS Administration (e.g. Moodle, Thinkific, TalentLMS, or similar) – configuring, maintaining, and optimizing learning platforms
- Collaboration & Productivity (e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace) – creating, editing, and collaborating across documents, presentations, and spreadsheets
- Email Marketing Platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, ConvertKit) – designing campaigns, automations, and learner communications
- Graphics, Authoring & Multimedia Tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Canva, Adobe Suite) – creating visuals, course assets, and instructional media
- Presentation & Slide Design (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Canva) – designing professional decks for courses and workshops
- Workbook & Document Design (Microsoft Word, Canva, Adobe InDesign) – developing learner workbooks, guides, and worksheets
- Assessment & Survey Tools (e.g., Google Forms, Typeform, Kahoot, Quizlet) – creating quizzes, evaluations, and learner feedback instruments
- Livestreaming & Video Tools (e.g., Camtasia, OBS, Zoom, StreamYard) – producing, moderating, and managing live classes, podcasts, webinars, and broadcasts
Portfolio Requirement
Applicants should submit a portfolio alongside their application, showcasing at least two instructional design projects that demonstrate:
- Curriculum or course outlines developed.
- Examples of eLearning or blended learning content created.
- Use of multimedia elements (e.g., videos, slides, workbooks, assessments).
- Application of instructional design models or frameworks.
